Church Cafe Naming Rights Contest

Purpose: To provide a fun way to be involved in updating our coffee corner and to gain start-up funds to help with the purchase of a new coffee maker, coffee, tea, creamers, environmentally friendly cups, decanters, etc. Updating this corner will help to create a small cafe which will make the Welcoming Center feel a bit more welcoming and a bit more modern.

Church members and their families will have the opportunity to bid to earn the right to name our church cafe, using the silent auction method. Catchy original titles are encouraged: He Brews Cafe; Holy Grounds Cafe, etc. Personal names may not be used to name the cafe: “Dan’s Cafe” will not be allowed. Bidding will be open to individuals, families, and teams.

A large Bid Chart will be posted in the Welcoming Center. It will include the rules, a place for a name, and a bid amount.

● Time limit: four weeks

● Bidding will begin on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

● Bidding will end on Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 10:30am.

● The highest bidder will earn the right to name our church cafe.

● The Church Council must approve the name.

● Money made from the bid will be used to help defray the costs of a new coffee maker, coffee, tea, decanters, cups, decor, etc.

● A metal sign (or some other form of art) with the new cafe name on it will be purchased and displayed on the wall above the coffee area.

Welcome Center Refresh

The Church Council has approved a Welcome Center Refresh Project that will be done in memory of Wendy Yurk and Terry Weimann. Both families have dedicated funds to refresh the coffee corner and replace most of the existing furniture in the Welcome Center.

Key Features of the Refresh:

· Color Palette: navy, sage, olive green, camel, oak (existing wall color will remain)

· Sign with name of the café: Name will be based on a name bidding contest. More information about a Café Naming Rights Contest will be shared during service on October 4th.

· New coffee makers (2) - non-commercial

· Self-serve coffee decanters (3): Regular, Decaf, Hot Water

· Coffee, tea, hot chocolate (winter months)

· Donation jar

· Environmentally friendly cups, stir sticks

· Additional low tables (2 or 3 - remove 2 stand-up tables); We are hoping to use the oak chairs with blue seats that are currently in the room.

· New area rug, love seat, 6-8 chairs, and coffee tables. All furniture will be in mid-century modern style. See photos for examples: all photos are from Pinterest

· Current furniture and end tables (all purchased in 2010) will be donated to LOVE.inc

· Sandwich board

· Green plants (real and/or silk)
